According to Italy's Virtus Bologna owner Claudio Sabatini via Sportando there is a deal about 95% done that will earn the Los Angeles Laker's superstar Kobe Bryant $3 million for the first 40 days of the Italian League season beginning October 9th. In the meantime, the NBA has delayed the start of training camp and canceled 43 exhibition games through October 15th.
"Italy is my home," said Bryant, who has three years and $83.5 million left on his Lakers contract. "It's where my dream of playing in the NBA started. This is where I learned the fundamentals, learned to shoot, to pass and to [move] without the ball...all things that when I came back to America, the players my age didn't know how to do because they were only thinking about jumping and dunking."

As of Saturday, October 1st, when Assembly Bill 109 (called "Realignment") takes effect, most people convicted of drug possession in California will no longer be sent to state prison but will be kept under supervision in their home county. AB 109 gives counties increased flexibility in responding to low-level offenses like personal drug possession, including innovative alternatives to conviction and incarceration. Advocates call on counties to use this new authority to end incarceration for drug possession and relapse, and to implement health-centered drug policies instead.
This is certainly a step in the right direction in the attempt by many to end the failed War on Drugs!
Odd Future's Hodgy Beats and Stones Throw's Jonti link up for this funky jam called "Nagoya". If you don't know about Nagoya, it is a city in Japan known for its amazing architecture, bustling squares and towers that light up the night sky. How that relates to this song, you can be the judge.

For some reason I haven't heard much of Tyga's music, but this record is pretty dope. I've been a fan of Drake since his backpack days, however, so it's always nice to hear something new from him and you know the song will be decent. Throw Supa Dups & 40 on the boards and you know it's bound to be a hit.

Founder & CEO of Amazon.com, Jeff Bezos has announced that there are now four brand new versions of the already popular Amazon Kindle available. Bezos has written a special note on the front page of Amazon.com that states, "There are two types of companies: those that work hard to charge customers more, and those that work hard to charge customers less. Both approaches can work. We are firmly in the second camp."

Treehouses can no longer be seen as just child's play. While they still do serve as playhouses for the more fortunate kids, they've taken on new functions as private home offices or studios, as elevated guest quarters, and as hotel accommodations, as well. Some are even real houses that just happen to be located in trees.

A North Carolina man crawled four days across the Utah desert after breaking his leg on a solo hike, inspired by the movie 127 Hours, about a man who cut off his own arm to save himself after being trapped by a boulder in the same canyon.
Amos Wayne Richards, 64, of Concord, North Carolina, is now recovering at home. He said he was inspired to hike Little Blue John Canyon after he saw the Oscar-nominated movie 127 Hours, but fell 10 feet during his trek on September 8th.

The sneaky science of "cloaking" just keeps getting richer. Physicists and engineers had already demonstrated rudimentary invisibility cloaks that can hide objects from light, sound, and water waves. Now, they’ve devised an "antimagnet" cloak that can shield an object from a constant magnetic field without disturbing that field. If realized, such a cloak could have medical applications, researchers say.
