Fashawn - Generation F

2010 XXL Freshman Fashawn is back with his next project Champagne and Styrofoam Cups, which is tentatively slated for a March 2012 release. Although Fashawn has been working on his follow-up album to Boy Meets World with producer Exile, he’s also been in the studio non-stop recording with various producers. Champagne and Styrofoam Cups will be 12-14 original tracks accompanied with a 45 minute mini movie directed by Punit Dhesi. Here’s the latest track from Fashawn’s vaults, "Generation F," produced by ATG. Look for more music and videos coming in the upcoming weeks.

Skeme - Before My Next Statement

Earlier today, Inglewood, CA rapper Skeme let loose his latest mixtape Before My Next Statement. The mixtape features guest appearances from Erk Tha Jerk, Problem, Glasses Malone, Twelve, Chip Gnarly, and more. Production comes courtesy of Tha Futuristiks, Erk Tha Jerk, Kenny Beats, and K.Roosevelt among others. Rashad & Confidence - Understand

Rashad and Confidence, two longtime students of the game, dropped their long-awaited debut album today, The Element of Surprise, through Ill Adrenaline Records. This up-and-coming MC/producer duo, hailing from Brooklyn and Philly respectively, merge to create a record with a timeless sound, reminiscent of hip-hop's golden era, with a fresh, updated feel. Boog Brown sets up three stories of betrayal that end in karmic payback for her song "Blink." The first story is of every man who cheats with what he thinks is the good shit, not realizing he's bringing the HIV home. The second of a treacherous female always leaving a good man for wife beater. And the third of a plotter who plans to get rich on a thug move but underestimates what it takes and instead is taken. Def Dee backs the entire production with bawdy burlesque inspired beat that matches the sexual overtness of the track, mirroring the three seductions in Boog's verses: sexual, financial, and criminal.

Two of Michigan's most skilled MC's, Jamall Bufford and Magestik Legend, link up with French beatmaker Astronote for this Black Opera exclusive new single, "Manute Bol." NBA Set To Resume Play On Christmas Day

This is breaking news from NBC Sports:

Finally, we are going to have NBA basketball again.

After more than 15 hours of negotiations Friday into Saturday morning (following a week of talks), the NBA owners and players have reached a handshake deal on a new NBA collective bargaining agreement the sides announced.

“We’ve reached a tentative understanding,” said NBA commissioner David Stern.

NBA games will start Dec. 25 — Christmas Day — with a triple-header and there will be a 66 game season.

There are a lot of details still to be worked out — first up are all the “B” list issues such as draft age and drug testing, things the sides do not all agree on but are not serious enough to block a deal. Then the NBA’s players union has to be reformed (remembered they disolved to allowing anti-trust lawsuits) then the owners and players will have to vote on a final version of the agreement.

All that is going to take 10-days to two weeks. The lockout will not officially be over until then.

That will be followed by a condensed free agency period and a couple weeks of training camps.

But on Christmas day we will get to open NBA basketball.

I first heard "Fix Up," the newest single from Black Star (Talib Kweli & Yasiin Bey) last month when they performed the Madlib-produced track live on The Colbert Report. And in the weeks since, Kweli has said that he and Bey intend on dropping even more new material next year. He added that it probably won't be a full album but rather a stream of singles or something along those lines. But before that happens, Black Star wanted to properly release a studio version of "Fix Up," which they have done today through most digital retailers. Juan Deuce & Falside - The Mechanics EP

Unsung hip-hop legend K-Def is prepared to drop a brand new EP titled Night Shift which is available for pre-order at Fat Beats right now. The producer behind Ghostface, Real Live, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Diddy, Tragedy Khadafi, Lords of the Underground and student of Marley Marl has been deep in the lab pulling late nights (hence the album title) knocking out beats left and right.
